Progress Update: Details View (Beta)

| | Comments (8)

We pushed some new functionality on Screencast.com which is now available to content owners. To try it out you must be in the "Beta" view.

Our new details view not only allows you to easily see and compare your content details, but it also serves as a much more convenient way to enter or update content details such as title and keywords. In addition, you can more quickly enable download links or enable commenting on the content you wish.

Here's a little video demo (2:26)

In this release we addressed an issue where people were having thumbnails in their Library go missing. You may notice that based on some feedback and testing we cleaned up some of the "tile" view interface including the big details tool tip/hover box.

As always, the best way to send us your feedback is at http://feedback.techsmith.com.

Oh Tom, and about the video not playing, does it just look like a big white box? If so, please update Flash here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Am I the only one with access to my content data, or will people I choose to share it with also have the expanded information? I'm trying to decide if the screencast format is one that will suit my needs, but it will take some more learning and comparing until I find the place to share my videos.

The main thing I need to determine is storage options for my files. I'm a little unclear if screencast has cloud computing options, or if it's more of a standard software service. Off to the FAQs to see if I can drum up an answer.

Hi Cliff,
Were you able to find more information?

Screencast.com is certainly "cloudy" in that you can increase your storage and bandwidth as needed. Your content is hosted on our secure servers.

We offer 4 levels of privacy, so you can protect your content in a number of ways. For example, if you have 100 videos in your folder, it's possible to just share one of them and the viewer could not see the rest of them. You can also password-protect a folder or specifically invite certain people using our "Authenticated" level.

Here's one way to describe the privacy levels and when people tend to use them: http://www.screencast.com/help/tutorial.aspx?id=489

I'll monitor this thread in case you have more questions.
Thanks for posting,
Mike Curtis

Hi!

Thanks for adding this update.
I added the player on my site and the title & keyword section is very important for me since Google finds things easier.

@TOM
I also got that message first but then I saw that it was linking to the wrong URL. Check your links.

Regards,
Poyan
