Public versus Private Content - Part 3 of 3
Of the four Screencast.com privacy levels, the Authenticated level (the highest level of security) is perhaps the most difficult to understand. This might be due to a certain level of complexity involved in setting up and managing the Authenticated folder or playlist. We hope this brief overview will help you better understand Authentication.
Overall, all Authenticated folders/playlists have a privacy level of Hidden applied to them and do not appear for browsing in your library. In order for content in an Authenticated folder/playlist to be viewed:
- A viewer must receive an email from you, sent from Screencast.com, containing a link to the content.
- A viewer must have a Screencast.com account (they can create one for free).
- The viewer's email address used to create a Screencast.com account must match the email address on the invitation they receive.
Additionally:
- Authentication can only be applied to a folder or playlist - not individual content files in the library.
- You can only send up to 15 email invitations at one time.
- Email invitations sent from within Screencast.com can be revoked at any time rendering the link in an email invalid.
- Email invitations automatically prompt the viewer to create a Free account in order to view the content.
To apply Authentication to a folder or playlist:
- Hover over a folder or playlist in the library. From the popup menu, click Edit.
- In the Privacy group box, click Change.
- The Edit Folder Properties or Edit Playlist Properties dialog box appears.
- Choose the Authentication option.
- Click Save.
For complete instructions on creating, sharing, and managing an Authenitcated folder or playlist, see the Help Center article entitled Share an Authenticated Folder.
Hi
Iwould like to purchase your product but could you clarify soem issues for me
I have a share programme excusive to me, but would like to transfer to other email addresses, does your programme do this without haveing a vidio camera pointing at the screen.
Thank You
Regards
Greg York
I'd like to clarify this stated limitation of using authenticated-type access: "...You can only send up to 15 email invitations at one time. ..."
Does that mean that using the email from Screencast.com feature, you can send only up to 15 emails at a time, (but you can send more by simply reapting the step)? Or does it mean you can only ever send out a total of 15 unique email invitations for each folder of your 'authentication-protected' content?
@Greg York,
Not sure what you mean by a share programme, but Screencast.com will allow you to share image and video files (along with other file types- though Screencast is optimized for images and videos) through Screencast.com. Screencast.com doesn't actually create these files, you will need another program to do the creation.
If you want to record a video of your screen, TechSmith Corporation, the creators of Screencast.com also make Camtasia Studio, which will allow you to record video of your screen (without pointing a camera at it...)
@Yss Admin,
You can go back and add more invitations later.
Hope this helps.

I Screencast, Do you?
I cannot find a "delete" option to get rid of some of the earlier files I have on Screencast while learning to share. There is no reason for the people I share with to see my entire work collection, plus the subject of sharing could be different from earlier sharing. Please advise.
