Screencast.com updates, March 4th

| | Comments (2) | TrackBacks (0)

Today’s Screencast.com update brings some improvements that we’ve been working on. We don’t have any flashy new features to announce, but we do have lots of small improvements to Screencast.com. Here are a few you may notice:

  • The workflow for the uploader has changed just a little. No need to select files and then press Upload anymore; your files are uploaded as soon as you select them.
  • The new required version of the Adobe Flash plug-in for using the uploader is 9.0.115. If you’re having trouble seeing Flash content on Screencast.com, check out this post.
  • Instead of taking you to a new login page, there’s now a login box in the header when you’re not logged in. Logging out also keeps you on your current page.
  • We began working on redesigning our Help Center. The search functionality is vastly improved (searches should no longer return ten pages of results) and the results are listed with a description of their contents, like you might see on Google.
  • We’ve added links to this blog on the homepage, in the footer, and in the Find Answers box. Check back (or add us to your RSS reader) for information on Screencast.com development, tutorials, and general screencasting tips and tricks.

I'm sure your intention was good for the first change: "No need to select files and then press Upload anymore; your files are uploaded as soon as you select them."

However, once screencast begins uploading the first file that you add, you can't add any more files until it is finished. And because the process of uploading starts automatically, you can't upload more than one file at a time.

I much preferred the ability to add 5 or 6 files to the upload queue and then to press "upload." Now I'm back to hovering around my computer to wait for one large file to finish before I can add the next one.

It's spring!!!! The sun is finally out again! I want to be able to put them all in the queue and then go for a walk if I want to. Please change it back!

Maria--If you select multiple files after clicking Add Files (either by Ctrl- or Shift-clicking) you can still upload multiple files at one time.
