January 2008 Archives

Welcome everyone to our first Screencast.com blog post! We're finally into 2008 and I'm excited to be starting off the new year with a new product blog that I hope will serve as a better way to open a line of communication with the Screencast.com community. I want this blog to help me and the team establish a dialog with our users in a way that the old Feedback form and User-to-User forums just couldn't do. With this blog we'll be presenting to you updates and information that is not only Screencast.com product-specific, but also sharing with you trends in the industry of video on the net. I hope that you'll use the blog's commenting capabilities to continue the dialog by asking questions and submitting suggestions as well. All honest input is warmly welcomed and as much as we can, we'll be sure to be as responsive as we can to all posts.

So - with all that said, let's start to meet the team that's been working for so long to give you Screencast.com!

Dirk Frazier - Product Manager

Dirk Frazier - Product Manager

Hi everyone - my name is Dirk Frazier and while I've worked at TechSmith for almost four years, I took over as the Product Manager of Screencast.com back in July 2007. My background is diverse, ranging from stints in the worlds of gas plasma technology, to the automotive industry, to the wonderful world of software development where I've done Web application and database programming, sales and sales engineering, and now product management. I love technology and can't seem to keep my fingers out of all things new and cool - which is a nice way of saying my IT department hates me. I look forward to establishing and growing an ongoing dialog with everyone so please don't be shy and help us make Screencast.com the best that it can be.

John Wood - Lead Developer

John Wood - Lead Developer

Hi. My name is John Wood. I have worked at TechSmith for over 2 years, mostly working on Screencast.com. I have been a developer for a long time and have worn many hats. I have worked with many languages, from C to the ever-popular Mumps, and in a variety of industries, from controlling building HVAC to 3D animation. I am a huge Michigan State University sports fan, as evidenced by naming my dog Sparty (which was a little more unique when I lived in Wisconsin). I love programming and everything else related to bringing you a great product. I hope you enjoy our blog and find it very useful.
